Hello Girls
This is the last week of Duo Elimination. After this only one girl will be eliminated from the lowest score duo. Another tough week. I'm proud with every single one of you. It was a tough challenge. Even it looks like impossible for you girls to come with the good photos. But you girls did it anyway!!! Great effort, girls!!! Thank you, Amanda for coming up with that idea.
Let's start our judging session
Team Brown - Hat Sisters (Kate & Sienna)
Amanda: Unfortunately, I'n not really feeling yours. You look really depressed, while Sienna looks more optimistic. Though the connection is otherwise strong, I really don't get a good vibe from this photo. It almost looks like a movie still. I checked the other images from the same shoot, and there's something weak about both of them. I want to see your face better here! I want to see more than this can offer! I do like your hair, the setting is great, and the styling is pretty good, but aside from that... this really doesn't do much for me. Sorry
Beth: Kate, I think the close up/beauty shoot photos below were better.
Why I said that, because in that photo, both of you compliment each other very well. The 'hat' concept was great. I got the connection. But Sienna's photo really overshadowed you this week. I wish you girls would pick the close up. In this photo, you look very defeated. And where is your neck? The styling is good but overall it just didn't work for me.
Anna: I think the styling is lovely here, Kate. The setting is gorgeous, your pose is simple yet elegant, and your face is telling me a story (sad as it may be). I do wish we could have seen a bit more of your expression though, because you are rather hidden, but when you are giving us sadness, being withdrawn actually kind of works.
As for the Sisters Theme, I think it's great that you girls actually managed to find matching shots wearing these fantastic wide brimmed floppy hats. The hats obviously aren't "identical", but I think they are close enough for this to work, and the fact that you're both outside helps a lot. You girls look lovely, and overall I'm happy with what you've come up with.
Joan: I like everything about this photo except that we can’t see your other eye. It ruins the photo for me actually. As for the sister theme you and Sienna were spot on in matching together.
Amanda: I really, really like this. The setting is wonderful and the styling is great, and despite you having a huge hat on your head, we still get to see your eyes. The hat really works here. Your connection with Kate is really strong even if you're more optimistic than she is. You look amazing. Your hair is great. I really like your face, and how the flower compliments it, yet doesn't cover anything but a cheek that we'd hardly see anyway. I also like the sun's effect behind the hat - it's actually artistic. Really good job here!
Beth: I want you girls to pick the close up shot. I really like that. But your photo here is still strong. The setting is great. I think you look very fresh. I think the connection with Kate is strong. I love the styling too. Overall, great photo for you but I can't say the same thing for your partner
Anna: Sienna, the bohemian princess, I love it. I think this is a great shot, and once again you are giving us something completely new. Everything comes together nicely here, but in my opinion, this is not the best angle for your face, though it still works. Oh, and I don't know if anyone has told you this, but generally, you don't have to literally put the flower INSIDE of your nose in order to smell it.

Joan: I think this is so cute. I love all the colors together. I like the warm tone this photo has. But your face is so fucking plain and boring! It makes this photo nothing special! As for the sister part you both nailed it!
Team Grey - Storybooks Queen Sisters (Anne & Charlize)
Amanda: Like I said to Charlize, you two complement each other nicely - you're the good twin, she's the evil one, and the similar styling is impeccably done. This photo is great, but one thing gets me - you really don't look good with platinum blonde hair. It just isn't the right fit for you. Especially since your eyebrows are so dark. That aside, this is AMAZING. The styling is great, your makeup is wonderful, and the mouse adds a little cuteness to the photo. I really, really like this, but don't absolutely love it. This, when coupled with Charlize... well let's say you two are contenders for being FCO again
Beth: I love this photo. There's a story behind this photo and it's an interesting photo. The styling is unique and suitable for your concept. Amazing concept, great execution. Good job, Anne
Anna: Every week you have been improving Anne, it's great to see that you are finally reaching your potential. The fashion here is very "costumy", but since you're playing a fantasy character, it's perfect. I really like how dark your lips, eyebrows and fingernail polish is compared to the rest of your styling, it is a wonderful contrast and exaggerates the theatrical nature of this shot. Your pose and expression are also nicely suited for the story you're telling.
As for the Sister Theme, you two have blown me away this week. This is incredibly creative, and you are both completely owning your roles as Storybook Queens. The best part is you have managed to find something that uniquely connects you two...and you still look like models.
Joan: I like how original this is. How you both took advantage and found similarity’s from the movies you made. My only issue is how plain and boring the background is.
Amanda: When you posted this in your team board and then talked to me last night... well IT WAS FREAKING HARD for me to restrain myself from saying "USE THOSE DAMMIT!" You and Anne look like twins - you're the evil twin, Anne is the good twin. The styling is very similar, and you're both queens. You complement each other quite nicely. The styling is AMAZING. This is high-fashion. This is eye-popping. I'm going to remember this in two weeks. There's really nothing bad about this. Your eyes look very devilish, and although they took a bit to grow on me, they're VERY appropriate. Your hair is great for your character. I adore this! Great job
Beth: That face!!! I adore this, Charlize. I'm going to remember this for 3 Weeks then. You and Anne really compliment each other this week, The styling is great here. I just don't know what to say anymore. Amazing week for you girls
Anna: Charlize, you are truly a chameleon. Every week you have given us an entirely different look, and this is going to add a whole new dimension to your portfolio. It is clear you have completely embraced your character here, and your expression, pose, and styling all work in perfect harmony to bring this concept to life. The gray background sucks a little of the magic out of the shot for me (a foreboding queen ready to unleash her wrath...in a studio), but it matches Anne's nicely, so overall it works.

Joan: And here I thought last week’s photo was your best! I love this photo, theme, wonderful job. You and Anne nailed the sister part of the theme.
Team Orange - Reflection Sisters (Emmy & Troian)
Amanda: This is a very strong photo here. Although your connection with Troian isn't as strong as it possibly could be, what you've done is enough - your eyes seem connected, that's for sure, and you've definitely worked hard at perfecting this stuff. You look really pretty here (and still somewhat remind me of me!) and there's nothing really bad about it. I like your hair, I like the pose, I like the innocence, I like the idea. I don't absolutely adore this photo given the way your reflection looks. It's sort of off-putting given the angle. That's just a minor quibble, so good job!
Beth: I love the whole idea. Reflection!!! Hmmm!! Future photoshoot maybe? Back to your photo, I think you look gorgeous and elegant this week. The setting is beautiful and I think your face expression improve a little bit. Like Amanda said the connection wasn't strong but this is a tough week and you did good overall.
Anna: You look so fragile here, yet I also see a subtle strength which is intriguing. Your pose is pitch perfect, and the simple styling keeps the focus on you which is wonderful. There is so much going on in your expression, and the best part is we have two different angles to look at.
As far as the Sisters Theme goes, I think you've come up with a very creative idea, but I'm torn about how you've "manufactured" it. The concept of reflections is genius, but when one is fake, I think it loses something (it would be like having "green" as your connection, but then completely photoshopping one photo to be the right color to make it work). I love that you two have bent over backward to make this work, but it would have been nice to see you find something that legitimately connects you two without having to use smoke and mirrors (pun intended).
Joan: I like this a lot. The setting is wonderful. The dress, pose and your facial expression all fits together. As for sister theme, I like seeing different and new themes rather than the old same old same old so good job!
Amanda: A little elaboration would be nice here, Troi. Just saying for the future!
Regardless, this is a cute photo, but the reflection seems unnatural. It's definitely an added effect - professionally done, however. I can sense a connection between you and Emmy, especially in your eyes - but aside from that, it's not as strong as it could be. I really can't find anything wrong about this photo, but again, I can't find anything amazing about it, either. The styling is good, the photo is nicely strewn together, and your face is soothing. There's just nothing that makes it pop.
Beth: I love to see this vulnerable side of you. You looks softer than before. I really like your eyes contact here. The styling was just okay for me. But overall, I think you & Emmy managed to convince me to like your idea and concept for this week shoot
Anna: You owe Emmy big time for this one, Troian. Not only did she come up with the theme, and not only did she find the photo for you, but then she painstakingly created your entire reflection to make it all work. I understand that with the Theme this week, it basically forces one of the girls to do most of the work, but none have been so directly one-sided as this. In fact, if I recall correctly, you didn't even post any suggestions of your own this week. All that aside, I do think you look lovely here, but the simplicity of a headshot generally means you need to make up for it with an incredible expression, and while you look nice, once again it's not doing much for me.

Joan: This is a bit plain but I like how creative this theme is. This photo is not as strong as Emmy’s is but it’s a good okay photo. You both nailed the same theme good job!
Team Pink - Shiny Couture Sisters (Katie & Miley)
Amanda: Eh, this is just okay for me. Yours does look like the "forgotten sister" to Miley's, at least, which is a big plus. The dress is really nice, but the black and white really hurts it here - there's nothing to make it "pop" like it's colorful. Black and white photos need something to make up for the lack of color, and this doesn't have it. I'm not sold on your hair or your arms, but at least this isn't making me turn the other way. I like it somewhat, but that's really all I can say. It's nothing incredibly special.
Beth: I think this is quite a good photo. I think your pose here looked natural, compare to your last few photos. In term of posing stuff, you improved but I think this photo would look better in color.
Anna: My goodness, I barely recognize you here, and maybe that's a good thing. This is the first time that I've really seen the "model" in you, and that makes me happy. I like your diva expression and powerful pose, though I wish your neck wasn't completely lost in your hair and hands. The outfit matches your look, but I agree with Amanda, the contrast here isn't nearly as powerful as it generally should be in a black and white shot.
As for the Sisters Theme, I think it's great that you girls decided to go with high fashion, since you are both so incredibly commercial. You've certainly pulled it off though, and you should be proud of yourselves for that. Overall, you've gone with a somewhat simple idea, but it still works for me.
Joan: Once again I love what you are wearing. The black and white makes this photo boring as hell. The pose, styling and that hair in your face I love though. As for the sister theme, I like how you and Miley found a really similar photo together.
Amanda: This doesn't look exactly like "couture" to me, given that it's a very different kind of styling than the traditional couture. Despite that quibble with your argument, this is great! I really like how your dress is sparkly, since that sort of makes it feel like it's in color. Your hair is fantastic and somewhat of a modernized throwback, and although I wish we could see more legs, it's still very good. Only problem I really have is where your hands are... that's kind of awkward for me. Overall, good work!
Beth: You look amazing and comfortable here. The connection between you and Katie wasn't really strong but it's a tough week and I really appreciate for what you girls did this week. I think this photo would be more stronger if you look straight at the camera. But overall, I like this
Anna: Okay, so last week I said that you couldn't do high fashion, but you have proven me wrong; well done Miley. I think the reason this works so well for you is because your adorable commercial face is masked by the deep shadow and gorgeous hair. I love the no-nonsense pose you're giving us here, though it does almost seem like you need to go pee. The black and white is pitch perfect for this shot, and the Gareth Pugh dress looks fabulous on you.

Joan: Something about me likes this photo and then there’s a part of me that doesn’t. I like the hair blowing a lot. I think Katie had a better pose than you because something is off to me about this photo. But I do like to see you out of your comfort zone so good job.
Team Blue - Sparkling Sisters (Ayumi & Gwen)
Amanda: I think the sparkles are a little overdone here. I really hate how many of them are in your hair, since that robs the focus of a beauty shot considerably. The bling is also the first thing I tend to notice - you're more faded into the background. That doesn't change that your eyes are amazing and your skin is flawless. But given the distractions, which Gwen doesn't have, I can't rank this too highly. I don't see as much a connection between you as I expected. Overall, it's just good - nothing extraordinarily special.
Beth: Ayumi, the styling was okay for me but I agree with Amanda the sparkles is too much. But I still like this photo. It's a good beauty shot. But as far as the connection with Gwen, I'm not really feeling it.
Anna: Well look at you, all sparkly and edgy. I think it's great how you are showing off the accessories while keeping the focus on your stunning eyes. I like the softness of your lips and the darkness of your nails. You are absolutely flawless, but that tends to be the whole point of a beauty shot. The artificial sparkles do amp up the cheese factor a bit, but looking at the overall image, it actually kind of works for me.
As for the Sisters Theme, I can certainly see the similarities between the two shots, I just wish you girls could have pushed things just a bit more. Headshots are a dime a dozen in this industry, but I must admit you managed to find ones that are quite similar, and that was the task.
Joan: The picture itself is good. I like the diamonds and sparks! You and Gwen both nailed the sister part of the theme as well.
Amanda: This is gorgeous! I love your hair here, and your eyes are wonderful. The background isn't overwhelming and helps make you stand out. It's a very breathtaking shot that has virtually no downsides. The one issue is that your connection with Ayu isn't as strong as it could be - she's more bling bling and you aren't. Your photos are very similar despite that, but there's just that one little issue. Overall, great job!
Beth: I think you look gorgeous here. I don't have any major problem with your photo. But like what I told Ayumi earlier, the connection wasn't really strong. I think you girls have the idea but I wish the execution would be more sharper. However this is a tough week and I'm really appreciate for what you & Ayumi have came up with.
Anna: That piercing stare is even giving me a run for my money, great job Gwen. The intensity of your expression is spectacular, and the background and your hair only adds to the fierceness. The way the image is cropped is interesting, because usually with a headshot, the model is front and center, but I actually like this different approach.

Joan: This is a good shot Gwen. It is kind of blah though. But I like the hair and makeup. As for the sister theme you and Ayumi nailed it. But for the theme you choose is a little boring.
Team Purple - Glamorous Back-pose Sisters (Katy & Sarah)
Amanda: This is strong. Your gaze is mesmerizing and that coat is very nice (and hopefully faux... lol). The pose is good, although I'm not sure about the bangs. I'm not sure if they suit you, especially with that bun. I do see a connection between you and Sarah, so this is good! Nice job!
Beth: Your eyes here are so strong. I love the styling. And unlike Amanda, I like your hairstyle. Very brave especially the bang. I think you connect to the camera well this week. The chemistry between Sarah's photo and yours photo is good.
Anna: This is absolutely exquisite Katy, very nice job. You are absolutely flawless, and I love everything about this, from your expression, to the hair, even your pose. This is the second week in a row you've impressed me, well done.
As far as the Sisters Theme goes, I love how you've chosen "over the shoulder" shots as your similarity, because it's a pose that can be tough to pull off. One of you is definitely stronger than the other, but the two shots clearly belong together, so I think you've pulled off the theme nicely.
Joan: I don’t know what Amanda is talking about because those bangs are gorgeous on you. I love the black and white in this photo. I think it makes it pop out more. As for the sister part I think you two did good.
Amanda: This is pretty. That's it.
I do see the similarities here - you seem to have dropped your coat, but that's okay. Your eyes are giving very similar looks, and the black and white effects relate, too. But like I said... this is pretty. That's really all I have to say about it. There's nothing good nor bad that jumps at me (but I do like your hair). Perhaps that's a good thing, perhaps that's a bad thing. I can't really tell.
Beth: Very pretty, Good photo. As I told Katy before, the connection is there. Same pose and the eyes for both photos are the key element in both photo. Your eyes, even though not as strong as Katy but you still managed to catch my attention. Good effort this week for both of you
Anna: Overall, I think you look lovely here Sarah, but there are still some things that bother me. First, the border adds a "vintage" feel to this photo, and if there's one thing you want to stay away from, it's adding to your "dated" look. Your face is gorgeous, and I love that subtle smile of yours, but your pose isn't doing much for me. I wonder if maybe it was cropped higher (like Katy's) it would have looked better, taking some of the focus away from your bare back. One other thing to be mindful of when it comes to black and white photos, is models generally look better when their skin is light against a dark background, whereas in your shot, your skin is darker than the background, which isn't quite as appealing.
As far as the Sisters Theme goes, I like that you chose "over the shoulder" shots as your similarity, because it's a pose that can be tough to pull off. One of you is definitely stronger than the other, but the two shots clearly belong together, so I think you've pulled off the theme nicely.
Joan: I don’t think the vintage feel about this photo was necessary. The styling here is not vintage at all so it doesn’t match it. You look pretty here but also a plain Jane as well. If your styling was strong like Katy’s was it wouldn’t be a boring photo. As for the sister part you both nailed that.

The concept of reflections is genius, but when one is fake, I think it loses something (it would be like having "green" as your connection, but then completely photoshopping one photo to be the right color to make it work). I love how much work has been put into this, but it would have been nice to see you girls find something that legitimately connects you two without having to use smoke and mirrors (pun intended).
